Panruti, in Cuddalore district, is cashew country. Generations of families have grown, processed and exported the nut that the world knows Tamil Nadu for. On 23 November 2024, National Cashew Day, the Tamil Nadu Cashew Processors and Exporters Association (TNCPEA) wanted the whole community to look up and feel proud. So we put the cashew in the sky.
The idea: make an industry look up
An association is not one company. It is processors, exporters, farmers, workers and their families, many of whom rarely share the same room, let alone the same moment. The brief was to create one night that belonged to all of them. A drone show could reach everyone on the ground at once, and nobody needed a front-row seat.
A whole industry, looking up at the same sky.
150 drones, one story
As night fell over Panruti, 150 drones rose together and began to draw. The association's name came first, then the story of the crop: a cheerful cashew character waving to the crowd, the nut, the leaf and finally the cashew fruit itself, glowing white, green and gold above a ground full of upturned faces. "National Cashew Day" followed in lights, and the crowd answered with cheers and a sea of phone screens.

A world record, on the night
The cashew fruit wasn't only beautiful. It made history. That night, TNCPEA was certified with a world record for creating the largest display of cashew fruit using drone lights, featuring 150 drones, on National Cashew Day at Panruti. The certificate was presented on stage, and the celebration spilled across the ground: handshakes, hugs and a community that had just put its name in the record books.

Why it works
A drone show is spectacle. What made this one matter was the shared feeling underneath it: an entire industry seeing its own story, at a scale big enough for everyone, on a day that was theirs. That is what we chase at every event, whether it is a hundred people or a whole town. Not just something to watch, but something to belong to.
