The Vestas Engineering Business Service Centre (EBSC) in Chennai spends the year solving hard engineering problems for Vestas around the world. For its 2022 annual day, the brief came down to one line, and it went on every screen: take a break, it's time to party.
The theme: neon
We built the whole day around neon. Glowing disco balls on the invitations and screens, electric pinks and blues on stage, and a palette that told everyone from the first glance that this was not another work day. A theme works when people can feel it before anyone explains it.
By day: the lawn
The afternoon belonged to the outdoors. After a quick registration, teams spilled onto the lawn for games that needed hands joined, quick thinking and a lot of laughing at yourself. Colleagues who usually meet on calls were suddenly passing a hoop down a human chain, cheering each other on.

By night: the stage lights up
As evening came, the hall turned into a neon stage: LED walls, light beams and a runway into the crowd. EBSC's own people took the spotlight with dance crews, singers and group acts, each one cheered louder than the last. Teams came up together as the Circle of Joy, a stage full of colleagues, grinning for one big picture.

And then, the dance floor
The last act was everyone. The lights dropped, the floor lit up and the whole centre danced. That is the moment an annual day is really for: not watching a show, but being part of one.
Not watching a show. Being the show.
Why it works
Great annual days give people permission to let go, together. A clear theme, a day that moves from play to performance to party, and a stage that belongs to the employees, not the vendors. It is one of five years of events with Vestas, and still one of the loudest.
