Where the wind carries the light: Diwali at Vestas, overnight

A Diwali set-up for two floors of the Vestas Chennai office, asked for in the morning, ready by sunrise.

The email landed at 10:30 on a Monday night, and we didn't see it until morning. At 9:30 am, procurement at Vestas Wind Technology in Chennai confirmed the brief: a full Diwali set-up for the office. For that same night.

Yes first, how second

There's a moment in every big ask where a team either flinches or leans in. Ours leaned in. We said yes, and then we figured out how.

The list was long. Two photobooth set-ups. Two reception decors. Four flower rangolis. Danglers across two floors, over a lakh square feet of office. And rangoli competition kits, packed and ready for the contest the next day.

Designs were drawn, approved, printed, cut, laminated, delivered and installed, with four vendors moving in step. All of it in under 12 hours. Yes, it was an all-nighter. When the first Vestas colleagues walked in the next morning, the marigolds were up and the floor was glowing.

A Diwali that speaks Vestas

We didn't want a generic festival backdrop. Vestas is a wind energy company, so the diya at the centre of the photobooth has turbine blades, and the line beneath it reads Where the wind carries the light.

The real stars were the photo props. Vestas Chennai is a mix of people from across India, so we wrote the props the way the floor actually talks: in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English, with a little wind in every line.

The Tamil Diwali morning question, Ganga snanam aacha? (had your oil bath yet?), came with its answer: Turbines oiled too! In Hindi, Main hoon pataakha! (I'm a firecracker!) promised 100% noise, 0% smoke, clean energy even at Diwali. In Telugu, a cheeky flowerpot cracker joined the party. And for everyone with a sweet tooth: Will trade kilowatts for kaju katli, Powered by wind. Fuelled by mithai and Blown away by Diwali!

Each prop is a small story: one festival, many languages, one company. Pick one up and you're saying where you come from and where you belong, in the same photo.

Why Vestas trusts us

We've worked with Vestas for five years, from townhalls on the factory floor to milestone celebrations. Nights like this are why the calls keep coming. Not because we never get a short deadline, but because when we do, we don't flinch.

We said yes, then we figured out how. That's not a slogan. It's a team.

We're proud of the people who made this happen overnight. And it's no accident that we're team building specialists: we practise what we run. Curious why every prop talks about wind? Read the design story behind it. And see how we celebrated another Diwali on the floor at Rheinbrucke.

Want your floor festival-ready, even at short notice? Diwali, Pongal, Christmas and more sit on our Joy Calendar, and we bring them to life as part of our office festival celebrations. Let's plan your next one.
